Solo Business Software Stack Cost (2026): $68.98 a Month, Priced From Vendor Pages

$68.98 / month
Five entry-level paid plans for automation, notes, design, meeting transcription and a website add up to $68.98 a month at the prices on each vendor's own pricing page. One agent plan, Runable Pro, is $20 a month.
Source: Zapier, Notion, Canva, Otter.ai, Framer and Runable pricing pages, checked October 10, 2026. Total is our arithmetic.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • → A five-tool entry stack costs $68.98/month, about $828/year, at checked vendor prices (vendor pricing pages, Oct 2026; our sum)
  • → Runable Pro is $20/month, so the price gap is $48.98/month or $587.76/year (Runable pricing; our arithmetic)
  • → Only 10.6% of small business owners surveyed pay for six or more subscriptions; 62.4% pay for two or fewer (Small Business Expo, n=781, Mar 2026)
  • → 41.4% of owners say software costs rose in the past 12 months (Small Business Expo, Mar 2026)
  • → Price is not capability: entry plans carry limits such as 100 tasks on Zapier's lowest paid tier and 1,200 minutes on Otter Pro (vendor pricing pages)
  • → Credit-based agent plans cannot be priced in advance: no source we found publishes reliable credit costs per task

1 What Does a Five-Tool Solo Stack Cost?

Priced from each vendor's own pricing page on October 10, 2026, the lowest paid plan of an automation tool, a notes workspace, a design tool, a meeting transcriber and a site builder adds up to $68.98 a month.

The billing cycles are mixed, because the pages show them differently: Canva shows an annual price only, Otter and Framer show monthly prices, and Notion and Zapier mention yearly savings (up to 20% and 33% respectively) without showing the annual prices. Where a vendor offers an annual discount, a real bill could be lower. Using the Notion Business plan ($20 a member, the plan that adds its AI agent and meeting notes) instead of Plus lifts the stack to $78.98 a month. We left out slides because Gamma's pricing page showed no prices when we checked. You can click the column headings to sort the table.

The same five plans over twelve months, if every price held (our arithmetic: $68.98 × 12). That is a ceiling for this particular stack, not what a typical solo business pays.

2 How Does One Agent Plan Compare on Price?

Runable Pro costs $20 a month on monthly billing, which is $48.98 a month less than the five-tool stack above. That is a price difference only, because Runable charges in credits rather than by feature.

Max$100/mo150,000 a month plus the daily 1,500Runable pricing page, Oct 2026

Runable advertises 25% off on annual billing but does not show the annual dollar total, so Pro on annual billing would be about $15 a month by our arithmetic, widening the gap with the five-tool stack to about $53.98 a month. We cover the credit system, user ratings and limits in our Runable review. The short version: daily credits do not roll over, and heavy tasks such as video can use credits quickly, so the cheapest test is a week of real work on the free plan before paying.

$587.76
The yearly price gap between the five-tool stack ($68.98/month) and Runable Pro on monthly billing ($20/month). This only holds if the agent can do the work of all five tools for you, which this article does not claim.

To test your own numbers, the Stack Cost Calculator lets you enter what you pay now and compare it with each Runable plan. If your own cost is time rather than money, the Tool Sprawl Tax covers the cost of switching between apps.

3 How Many Subscriptions Do Small Businesses Really Pay For?

Fewer than the sprawl stories suggest. In a March 2026 survey of 781 small business owners, 62.4% paid for two subscriptions or fewer, and only 10.6% paid for six or more.

We take two things from this. First, a five-tool stack like the one priced above puts you in the top segment of subscription holders in this survey, so the saving from consolidating is real for a minority and not a universal rule. Second, we cannot lean on the survey too hard: the Small Business Expo page does not describe how respondents were recruited, so we treat it as a directional snapshot, not a population figure. The same page reports that 41.4% of owners (323 of 781) said software costs had increased over the past 12 months. A separate survey by software reseller Forscope, reported in June 2026, found 56% of its 300-plus respondents seriously concerned about price increases, though the report did not name the countries covered. Our earlier research on tool sprawl used a six-tool baseline; this survey says six or more is the unusual case.

4 What Do the Cheaper Plans Leave Out?

Every price above buys a limited plan. The lowest tiers cap tasks, minutes, pages or AI features, and the cap that matters is the one your own work hits first.

Notion PlusAI limited to a trial; Agent and AI Meeting Notes start on Business ($20)Notion pricing page

An agent plan has its own limit, and it is harder to see: credits. A comparison that treats $20 as equal to $68.98 only works if your work fits in the credit allowance, which is why we recommend testing before paying. For a generalist-versus-specialist example, see our ChatSlide review, a tool built for one job, turning documents into slide decks.

5 What Do Single-Job Specialists Cost?

The specialists we have reviewed sit in the same $9 to $24 range per month on yearly billing, so each one you add moves the stack total quickly.

TOOLPRICESOURCE
Screen Studio (Mac screen recording)$9/mo billed yearlyScreen Studio, Oct 2026
Tight Studio Plus$9/mo billed yearlyTight Studio, Oct 2026
Tight Studio Pro (AI voiceover)$24/mo billed yearlyTight Studio, Oct 2026

These are not part of the five-tool total above. They show how a stack grows: a founder who records demos adds another $9 a month on top of whatever the rest costs. The cheapest way to find out what you need is to price your own list, then see which of it a free tier already covers. If you want to test an agent against that list, Runable's free plan is the no-cost way in. That is an affiliate link, and the numbers above are the same either way.

Methodology

How we built this. On October 10, 2026 we opened the public pricing pages for Zapier, Notion, Canva, Otter.ai, Framer and Runable and recorded the prices stated on them. We chose the lowest paid plan that still includes the main feature of each tool. Totals are our own arithmetic, shown as such. The survey figures come from a Small Business Expo Research Desk page published March 20, 2026 (n=781) and a Forscope survey reported by Politis on June 12, 2026. We consulted 11 sources and cite 10. Every source is dated 2026.

Limits. This compares prices, not capabilities, and it assumes list prices with no discounts. Billing cycles are mixed, as described above. Gamma's pricing page showed no prices, so slides are not in the total. The Small Business Expo page does not describe its sampling, and the Forscope report did not name its countries. We did not test any tool for this article. Prices change often: check each vendor before buying. We will update this page when the prices change.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a solo business software stack cost per month?

Five entry-level paid plans (Zapier Professional from $19.99, Notion Plus $10, Canva Pro $144 a year, Otter Pro $16.99 and Framer Basic $10) add up to $68.98 a month at vendor prices checked on October 10, 2026. The total is our arithmetic and mixes billing cycles, so a real bill may differ.

Is one AI agent cheaper than separate tools?

On price alone, yes: Runable Pro is $20 a month against $68.98 for the five-tool stack, a difference of $48.98 a month. Price is not capability. Runable charges in credits, and no source we found publishes reliable credit costs per task, so test it on your own work first.

How many software subscriptions do small businesses pay for?

In a March 2026 survey of 781 small business owners by the Small Business Expo, 62.4% paid for 0 to 2 subscriptions, 27.0% for 3 to 5, 7.7% for 6 to 10 and 2.9% for 11 or more. The page does not describe how respondents were recruited, so treat it as directional.

Are software prices rising for small businesses?

In the same survey, 41.4% of owners said software costs had risen in the past 12 months, while 34.4% saw no increase. A separate Forscope survey, reported in June 2026, found 56% of its 300-plus respondents seriously concerned about price increases. Neither is a measure of actual price changes.

What does the cheap version of each tool leave out?

Entry plans carry limits: Zapier's lowest paid tier is 100 tasks a month, Otter Pro caps transcription at 1,200 minutes, Framer Basic allows 30 site pages, and Notion's agent and AI meeting notes start on the $20 Business plan. Check the limit your own work reaches first.

Can you try the agent before paying?

Yes. Runable lists a free plan with 1,500 credits a day that reset daily and do not roll over. Running one real job a day for a week shows how fast credits go before you pay. Our Runable review covers the credit system and the limits reviewers report.
